Hi all , Lately I've been going down to do some squid fishing (shore fishing) and there seem to be no activity at all. In Maltese we say "Lanqas Mesa" :-). Till now I only managed to land 2 nice sized ones. Does anyone know what might be the problem ? I've been hearing loads of different versions like .... sea temperature, wild tuna activity, change in currents etc etc. I would like to also take this opportunity to wish the very best of 2011 to everyone. May we have a better year than the present one, full of health and some serious fishing

I started well in November but the sizes were not much big except for three catches. December was a total disaster but at least produced half a dozen cuttlefish with two of them quite large. Yesterday I lost an other large sized cuttlefish but yes not a squid in sight!

At Last I caught a very good sized squid together with an other cuttlefish. It was also the first time this season that I saw an other squid approaching my Lure without striking.

North. In the southern area I caught only in November! I do hope that this is the start of the season.

I have to agree with Sirena. North area at the moment is a no squid zone. Have to try different locations.
