Placebo, the day of the tournament has come and gone, but what were the results? I was curious about your "Kingfish," what is it. We have Kingfish here in the US of A, that are more barracuda like, long and slender, toothy critters, run like a horse when hooked. Are yours similar?? I've found that fisherman around the world call the same fish, many different names. Thank in advance for your reply. Capt. Mike Fisher

kingfisher is the name of a sports fishing club association in MALTA which promotes shore angling using rods and tackle. We organise a singles league, doubles league plus many other interesting venues all year round. for more information visit the webpage on www.ksfamalta.org

Coming up on the KSFA calendar.
We will soon be visiting our neighbours in Sicily for a rod fishing competition. We will be fishing in the port of pozzallo on the 23rd July, so good luck kingfishers. Last year we were invited as guests and they were really amazed since we practically beat them with one angler less in our team. This year I think they will really prepared for us as they want to make up for last year. Our highlight in Malta will be in the First week of September when we hold our weekend tournament. We are now corresponding with Italian anglers to join us in the tournament.
Hope to see you all

The bass you are showing is the spotted seabass, (spnotta tat-tbajja) I never saw it in Malta although sicily is very close. Usually it is smaller than the common seabass which can reach a metre in lenght and 12kg in weight
Family: Moronidae (Temperate basses) Order: Perciformes (perch-likes) Class: Actinopterygii (ray-finned fishes) Name: Spotted seabass Max. size: 70.0 cm TL (male/unsexed) Environment: pelagic; brackish; marine ; depth range - 30 m Climate: subtropical; 51?N - 10?N Resilience: Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (K=0.16) Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: English Channel (occasional) southward along the coasts of Europe and Morocco to Senegal and the Canary Islands; also southern Mediterranean and the Gulf of Suez. Biology: Coastal species (Ref. 4197). Occurs on various kinds of bottoms. Occasionally occurring in rivers. Feeds mainly on shrimps and mollusks, also fishes (Ref. 5990)

Hello everyone,
The KSFA season is now nearly over for this year. We have three competitions coming up Sun 26th Nov will see the 6th singles match to be held at Birgu (toqba), the 2nd dec will see the Doubles marshalls' match to be held in Xaghjra. the alternative venue for xaghjra is Senglea and sun the 9th dec will be singles marshalls' match time that will aslo be held in Birgu toqba. You will probably ask why two same venues? The last venue is drawn up from all the venues of the year. Birgu was the one drawn by lot.
I don't think that I will be keeping my title as winner of the 2005 league. Still having high hopes though.
Anyway not from the KSFA wishing to join us for next year can send me a private message.

As i thought I managed to loose my title. Anyway, I will try my luck again this year. Funnily enough the league was won by a member who joined us this year. He learned the tricks very quickly and managed to win over the experts.
KSFA will start its new season in January and as usual we will be organising four leagues, mainly singles, doubles, kids and mullet leagues.
Anyone wishing to join us can send me a pm.
