Hi,

Can't reveal too much info just yet, but if anyone is thinking of buying a good new trolling reel in the next few weeks, or perhaps you had ear-marked a purchase over the winter period for next season, drop me a private message as I may be able to offer a pretty unique opportunity.

These are excellent bullet proof reels that will last you along time, from as small as a 20lbs Line class up to a 50lbs Wide, and then even up to 130lbs class reel, though I doubt anyone would need that type for Malta.

I reckon the ideal reel class for Malta is a 50lbs reel as it gives you the most versatility. from smaller game fish like Alungi to large Tuna and Swords if you're lucky, whilst still have good line capacity, 800 yards on a std 50 or 1100 yards on a wide giving you the line capacity you need if you really hook in to a big fish.

A 30lbs reel is just too small for versatility unless it's a proper 30Wide with say 23-25lbs of max drag (like a Penn 30VW). I made the mistake of buying 2 30lbs Penn commanders and have def outgrown them, and with a good reel, you want to Buy Once, Buy Right! I reckon 650 yards should be a minimum on reels to give you that line capacity that is needed with larger game fish.

So if anyone is interested, drop me a private message.

I made contact with a Reel manufacturer in Italy of top notch reels, but they are not budget reels. Similar class to Alutecnos, but perhaps at Penn prices. Will answer the pm's I received in the next couple of days as very busy right now.
