the Shakespeare ugly stick is a brilliant rod which enables good lifts from high rocks.

Also there's the Ron Thompson Thyran - lifting capability 10kgs while having a nice sensitive rod ideal for most fish around the island.

be sure the rod is good for braid or it might ruin the guides, because i got a shimano alivo and now i found out its no good for braid(i asked at fishing frenzy) and choose a light one. a heavy one will get you tired easily. like you i'm still a beginer and i didn't know what to go for. take your time and choose the right equipment.

don't know from where you got this (or whoever told you) that the Alivio is not good for braid, I have been using it INTENSIVELY with braid for a couple of months now and there is nothing wrong yet with the guides.

And after all.... if the guides get ruined after a year or so, you simply throw the rod away... it's just €40 after all!!! heheheheh

If you are sure the alivio can withstand the braid its good news for me as I really like that rod.

fine setup but be aware of heights ....... you can not lift nice sized fish with that set up. Good for port and places where you can easily net the fish.

I would preferably go for a Thyran or Ugly Stick or something similar (solid tips) to enable lifts.

I definitely also recommend the Thyron when spinning from certain heights

sargos attent, ghax dawk it-tnejn ma jesportawx lejn malta.

what do you mean?

chrifene

What he means is that if you go to the postage and payments tab there isn't listed Malta but post to UK. So in that case you might consider sending a message to the seller to check out re postage.

sargos- the shimano nexave 2500 is about 56 euros from malta. so be careful how much it's going to cost to buy it from  e bay
