Removing a primer under the antifouling.

Guys If someone has any knowledge about this product I would appreciate.
Seasons ago my rib used to be berthed at Portomaso (not me obviously, but before I bought it  ;
When I bought it I removed the anti-fouling but a strange layer was found underneath this anti-fouling.
I could not remove it, and i gave up until some time ago a friend of mine tried to scrape it off, and he succeeded, and he used some thinner and with thinner it loosened a bit, but it took him 1 hour to clean 1 square foot, and did not completely remove it.
I had also tried with power wash, with anti-fouling remover, and with scraping, and scotchbrite, and steelwool but useless.

This layer is transparent guys. It is like when you spray laqeur on your car, but it is not hardened, it is very rubbery in texture. It is as if you gave a layer of glue (or silicone) below the whole waterline, but it is very very hard to remove, it is very robust. It had to be a very good product for sure. It is like a very good marine transparent sealer.
I beleive that if I remove it, and polish the botom, I can easily add 2 knots of speed.

Can you please help?
Anybody knows the product. What about you granitu. You are a very technical person.

By the way granitu. I used Jotun pengurad HB paint on my outboard as you recommended. Its a very thick paint, sprayed up with a 2.5 nozzle. It took a week to dry up even with hardener. I complained and they refunded me, and afterwards their manager came by to do a patch test, and he said that it finally dried up. He said that due to its thickness it needed some adequate temperature, or some infra red to dry in the instructed time. They are very professional in their attitude at coilero man. Then I bought the finish from them as well, same Jotun brand marine paint. It came well. Hope it last long. Thanks.

I would resort to Sodablasting the Hull as otherwise you have a very labour intensive job on your hands. Unlike Sand, Sodablasting using Bicarbonate of Soda as the material type.

And yes it would be very interesting to know what this layer is and what the product is.

Very strange re the drying up. By any chance you store your dingy in a highly humid place. I told you to use coleiro for a reason. They live up to their name.. And that paint will last If you have scratches just make sure you coat them to be extra safe.

I have seen once a similar material and i believe it is a hull preserver but i have to ask a friend about it. By any chance the boat was serviced by a maltese boat yard that takes care of portomaso boats?

What thinner did your friend use? I believe this is liquidised rubber but a photo would help

No man... its a new garage... but is was southerny wind when I sprayed. The thin layers dried up immediately, but when I gave another 2 coats...then they did not want to dry up.

probably ripard used to service this rib since that I have some invoices.

I used regular cleaning thinner. but I will take some photos if something shows in them. I might try silicone wurth silicone remover if its not expensive, since that it is just experimental

I am seriously thinking it is liquidised rubber the coat you have. Best call confirm with ripard.

Baghira they  use this liquidised rubber to protect the hulls. I might as well ask you why you want to remove it especially for an extra 2 knots lol.

Also, I would consider the physics affect that your dinghy might start running faster than your motor can actually do - I forgot the exact name but it is related to hydroplaining

some said remove it with paint remover, other said not do not use it since it might damage the gel coat, others said use soda, others use thinner or acetone, others sand it down, others use anti fouling remover......
Others said leave it there and forget to remove it cause it is very hard, and it is protecting your hull, but why when I am not leaving it at sea??
Now someone said remove it with a hot air gun and scraper :-) which is what I intend to do very carefully, and also try with acetone.

Granit.... I am eager to hear about this physics effect, hydroplaning ? What is this... Interesting....

i asked a guy around and it is definitely a waterproofer in the form of liquidised rubber.

there is some product to remove it. i will give you the brand. not commonly used in malta but used alot in the tropics

Just slide off.... :-) :-) just....... yes........ but not just........definitely no way I will remove tubes, and especially motor.... better leave it as it is, I had no problems with this.......its just that a friend made me aware of it, and when he polished part of the hull it came up so nicely :-)
