Hello all my name in Andy, I'm from Ontario Canada. I married a Maltese girl and and we had our first child 5 months ago. The baby's great grand parents are alive and well among other relatives in Malta so we are vacation there in September for 2 weeks for meet them all.

I am a huge fishing guy here here and would really like to get into some Tuna, Dornado, Amberjack. Can anyone please send me any info they can on a charter fishing company or even large boat rentals?

It's my first time coming to Malta but I'm sure it won't be my last.

Thanks Andy

Hi Andy,

Welcome to the MFF. Congratulations on the birth of your first child.

September is indeed our Dorado (Lampuki) season albeit at the beginning of it however you should be able to have some good fun. How many people will you be that want to go out fishing? We do get some schoolie size BFTs at that time of year in the vicinity of the Dorado FADs, however BFT are strictly catch and release unless you have a special permit.

There are a few charter options so do let us have some more info so that we can provide you with some suggestions.

It will be me and my brother in law for sure. I have looking into "extreme boat fishing Malta" they seem like a good option. What do you recommend? Thanks

You would normally need to get a few more people together to make it financially viable.......

Extreme's boat is pretty big at 27 foot, I know it can be chartered as a dedicated option but it works best financially if you can share the costs with like-minded people. The hard part of that is getting everyone together on the same day.

There are a couple of boats that take up to 4 people and these tend to be around 24 footers but you would need to factor in around €125 each and try to make up 4 people fishing.

Ya I get the more people less cost but there's only going to be the 2 of us and I don't mind paying $$$ to get out some BFT. Plus we only get 3 fish and if there was say 5 people 2 guys just paid for a boat trip. I get the fuel expense and all were just looking for the best boat/guide to take us for the best chance.

And just being the 2 of us is more fish for us:) can't wait.

Has anyone tried the Shimano waxwing lures in Malta??
