Last year, a friend of mine introduced me to snorkelling and I bought a one piece 3mm wesuit. This suit was great till Nov/Dec. However I feel cold with it now. What type / thickness of wet suit would you experienced free-divers recommend for me to use in the months when the sea is in its coldest? And would you suggest a one-piece or two piece? What about hood - is it best to have it separate or as part of the suit? I am really only into surface snorkelling and not apnea/diving with aqualungs.

a 5mm would be perfect for your needs... a one piece or a two piece does not make any real difference in my opinion for snorkeling i would choose the one which is most comfortable to you

with regards to brands, i use effesub and i find it very comfortable but better ask emic about them he is more pro than me
Good season so far.....

Its not how much or what you do in the water. It s only a fact that when you are in the water you need to be comftable. There are differnt once but I suggest to have an apnea suit. Its zippless so you need to wear it with some shampoo. One you try it, you will never get back. I suggest as for a beginner go to an effesub (Mr Fish) suit. Also there is aquatica (bugibba) that has some good Topsub suits. With these you can make much more time that with normal  ones. The thing is to have it that fits for you. The secret of these suits is that should fit for your body so that you dont have water in your suit. Then when you get used to it there is a higher suit, which is a liscia that really keeps you hot. At the moment I can stand 8-10hrs diving and still feeling hot and we are talking always on 5mm suit.

The hood will be one piece with the jacket
