I would like to know about the fuel efficiency of tohatsu tldi 115. is it better than etec or any other outboards?

The tldi is a very good motor but not more fuel efficient than an etec. And by any other motor it depends which !

You shouldn't base you decision on the brand first. You should decide which technology is best for you. 2 stroke vs 4 stroke has been discussed to the infinite.

It all depends on what you want to do with your boat. If you run at WOT or at high RPM for the majority of time and only occasionally troll then go for a 2 stroke which is far more adapted to run at high RPM.

If you intend to troll for long periods of time, then go for a 4 stoke.

Both technologies are however able to do both things (troll and high RPM)

Once you know your use, then you can make an informed decision !

Yep buy the dealer/aftesales not the brand.

If you will use the boat mostly for fishing, I would say 4 stroke. If you have a heavy boat or want a good holeshot (because maybe you will do watersports with the boat too) then a Direct Injection 2 stroke will be better.

But you need to break down your use into a percentage.

Optimax/TLDI use low pressure direct injection, E-TEC uses high pressure direct injection

It's just a different approach to the same thing, direct injection. Low Pressure DI was developed by Orbital in Australia and Mercury / Tohatsu chose to use that. Evinrude developed their own and its high pressure.

But one doesn't result in more power than the other. Some people aren't keen on super high pressure as they worry it compromises the longevity of the power head.

Parts from Japan are very expensive so check servicing costs before buying
