What s the best way to protect the leaf springs of a boat trailer from rust. I have it from new and the springs were never coated.  After 3 years of use, they are now covered in rust. Is there any particular protective paint? It s a galvanized trailer of foreign make.  Would you suggest to paint the galvanized frame also?

thanks
would really appreciate your wise suggestions

Wash or spray the trailer with tap water when you return home. Should remove most of the sea water and salt. With respect to paint, there are several products to choose from. I suggest that you go to a marine shop, explain your situation and then make a decision according to the recommendations. The galvanized frame will not rust as quickly as the springs but eventually, rust will start to form. As I told you, I would decide what to do after hearing the recommendations from a marine supplier.

Also you might want to consider sand blasting the trailer before painting as mentioned above. No need to limit sourcing the paint from a marine shop and consider comparing prices/product options from an ironmonger.
