Hi,

I been watching this forum for some months since I decided to take the family to Malta for a week in summer .. week 27.

since they just want to lay around in the sun I want to go fishing - main for species that I dont catch up here in Denmark. Smal tunas are very high on my list ..

I see that shore fishing are popular and I do that home as well and that is fine, but what I cannot find is anything on boat rental ?
and chater boats - if any - other places I have been California, Gran Canaria, and even in Denmark there are charter boats were  you simply book 1 place with others - not a  full boat chater  - do you have this in Malta.

All tips also for shore fishing are welcome.

I am staying at the coastline in St. pauls.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Lars, welcome. Week 27 should be in Albacore season (Long Fin Tuna or Flase Tuna). There are a couple of boats that do full charters but you're looking at like ?400 for a day, and it's quite hard for them to co-ordinate a slot for just one though I'm sure it happens.

Here in the forum some skippers offer cost sharing. If they are going out on a trip and have spaces available they are posted in the Cost Sharing and Trips section of the forum. It's NOT a charter, asyour contribute a share towards fuel and expenses and usually the skipper will indicate whey they itend to go, for how long and what they plan to target. Costs tend to be variable and relate to the distance they will be going out for on the trip but it's a far more cost effective method for people like yourself.

Last year was doing it on a 32 foot boat, but this year have an 18.5 foot Center console boat which will make day trips for more cost effective for all.

Skippers like The_Gaffer, Shanoook, Visa, myself, Gottie, Dave etc may potentially be interested and offering this.

Don't worry, I will tell all, good and bad!! I tend to be brutually honest when I review things, just because I bought them doesn't usually affect my opinion. Plus with the forum, we're all here to learn from each other, benefit from others who got it right, learn from those who got it wrong, and hopefully all end up for the better.

Very interested to see the fuel burn rates, as I bought a Lowrance EP-65 fuel flow sensor so will be posting info about how much fuel these Direct Injection engines use!

Sorry Lars for hi-jacking your thread and going off topic here!
