I just bought the navicom 311 vhf (handheld)   and the user manual is close to useless,  i was wondering if you guys would be able to help me with one very basic question;  what is UIC???   I have a button 'UIC' just above the ptt button and i have no clue what it is, the manual does not even mention it!!!   any ideas?

benri

If I'm not mistaken that function will only work in the U.S. and not in Europe. You're right the instrcutions are very crappy in spite the quality of the radio being quite good! I have one too and to date have still not managed to scan tri-band.

benri i have one too and i lost the instructions after reading them only one time. icant remember where i put them. i went to camilleri marine bir id-deheb from where i bought it and simon told me how it works. i think to scan tri-band you have to memory three channels and when you press scan it scans those three chanels

blackhawkmt

yes, in fact i also got stuck on tri band as all it says on the manual is save the channel as PASS  whatever that should mean!! :s

I will try busu's suggestion and set the 3 channels i want...hopefully it will work.   Busu, if you want  copy of the instruction manual, let me know and i will scan them for you....

So Blackhawkmt, U - USA, I - International, C - Canada. If you got your model locally, it is preset on I (International) and you cannot change the setting due to legal restrictions in Europe

Busumark, I attached a pdf of the manual of the 311. they should be very similar models... hope it helps

benri

I got mine from camilleri in bir id deheb. Might see you fishing tomorrow but am still not sure what I'm going to do. yesterday I painted the antifouling but I'm still not so sure cause if I take it down it will stay there and I don't know whether I should wait another week!

Gazzetta

Hi Guys,

I don't know if any of you would need to use more than cigarette lighter at the same time.
If yes, LIDL got a new stock of 3 in 1 cigarette lighter adapter. (posted pic in gallery)

Guys,

I hate to spoil the fun, but do watch out for the amperage load while using this 3 in 1 gadget.  When using 12v DC, Amps draw can be quite high, given the low voltage.  Make sure the original cigarrette plug is wired with the proper gauge wire, at least 2.5mm multi strand marine grade wire.  This should do for upto 15amps draw.  Any items connected to the 3 in 1 should not draw more the 15amps in aggregate.  Anything over that and you're playing with fire....literally!!!
