Bigboy Is this coming from oceans or normally breeds around?

It looks like a harmless fish, I always thought, that deep fish were poisonous like scorfna, tragna, scalm!!
Can't wait to go fishing

ramio

I think you are both talking about the same fish, Emic, Bigboy

Siganus luridus
Family:    Siganidae (Rabbitfishes)
FishBase name:  Dusky spinefoot
Order:   Perciformes  (perch-likes)

Interesting bit: Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea and East Africa to islands in the western Indian Ocean. Immigrant to Mediterranean via the Suez Canal.

I think I'll start printing these poisonous fish photos and keep aboard for reference. Especially now I'll be trying deep drop.............if the wind gives us a chance.

bigboy

Ok then my appologies lol

Granitu

you don't need to do asterisks on that word, it is not bad one unless if you used the f word
Good season so far.....

EmicMalta

one can find it in shallow water as from 5mtr to 20mtr maximum. Last year I caught a lot and this year5 I think they came trying to spear on me. I had always waited for them with a 6.5mm spear, and now it was their turn.

(And tonight was my turn cos I made it at catoccio)  :P :P :P

Why do fish make men go crazy?

Klaws

Was it good al cartoccio Emic? I once caught one and i remember the meat was chewey and had an almost bitter taste. Bream and mullet in the same dish were fabolous!! I don't shoot them anymore even if this year I am seeing a lot of them..

I mentioned this fish a similar fish in this topic http://maltafishingforum.com/talk/index.php?topic=609.0 One is called Qawsalla in maltese and the other is the Dusky spinefoot.
They both came from the Red sea.

i never caught one with hand line. does anyone ever caught one except with a spear gun

EmicMalta

yes it is reall nice to eat. Even I had read somewhere that its an expensive fish to buy. Dont think people pay more money for nothing.

Busmark
do you like to go to try a place for them  with the rod?
