Hi Vernon,

Welcome to the forum. At that time of year if you're into trolling you can catch some 8-20kgs Bluefin Tuna, and we will be in the local Lampuki season (Dorado/Dolphin Fish/Mahi Mahi) which are great fun to catch and even better to eat!

You could also do some deep bottom fishing with electric reels as well.

There are a few charter boats out here that are fully equipped, but you're looking at least ?400 for 8 hours fishing on one of these boats.

Here in the forum some skippers offer cost sharing. If they are going out on a trip and have spaces available they are posted in the Cost Sharing and Trips section of the forum, or in the General board 'Going out fishing'. It's NOT a charter, as you contribute a share towards fuel and expenses and usually the skipper will indicate where they intend to go, for how long and what they plan to target. Costs tend to be variable and relate to the distance they will be going out for on the trip but it's a far more cost effective method for people who are on their own as opposed to a group of 4.

Skippers like The_Gaffer, Shanoook, Visa, myself, Gottie, Dave etc may be able to offer this to you.

Hi Vernon,
Welcome to the forum, it would be good if you could indicate where you will be staying while in Malta, as that way we can see which is the best side to go finshing.

Hi Guys
Many thanks for your replies and information I will be staying in St Julians but I will have a car and I know the Island quite well as I have been coming for years to Malta.
This will be the first time I will be giving the boat fishing a try and I think at the moment it will be just two of us coming over.
I like the thought of having a try for some of the tuna or anything else that comes my way.
