Dear All ,
I am new here but have been owning a boat for the last 10years. I would like to bring a subject which I think it is of utmost importance to boat owners who have to launch their crafts. The situation of slip ways in Malta is very miserable and should be improved . After all we pay hefty licences . My usual launching  places is Manoel Island, Xemxijja, Bugibba, Bahar ic-Caghaq, B'Buga. The state of most of these slip ways is very poor and the parking is very limited.
What I am suggesting that a petition should be started so that in places like Manoel island, Bahar ic-Caghaq and Xemxijja there should be more slip ways and more parking facilities. In Bahar ic-Caghaq there is ample space to build more slip ways and  enough parking to cater for at least 20 cars with trailers. The place is still undeveoped and needs some attention as it looks very primtive.
Maybe the Minister George Pullicino who is responsable for these projects will see some light and help out. He's a good guy and I am sure that if  we approach him. What do you say people?

to make the slipways u need to first have a good sheltered harbour. its no use to have a slipways only as even with a slight swell it will be difficult to launch and worse to retriev a boat. imagine trying to retrieve a boat in force 4/5 winds. the least u can have are a few scratches on the bottom......We had a few Hon PPL who came over and discussed the need of good sheltered harbours but for some excuse or another nothing materialised.......

To add to what shanook rightfully said, parking is a problem everywhere. Most places residents can't find parking in their own town. Can you imagine making parking for trailers! B'Buga is a prime example. I find parking when I go there for two reasons, I go there with no trailer as boat is in the water, and I usually start early.

Sometimes we don't even find parking only for the car, immagine with the trailer.

the only slip with plenty of parking is the one at San tumas cause there's a huge field for free in front of the slip.
