3.65 m boat 5 HP enough ? Help Needed

Hi ,

   I got my first boat will use for fishing mostly it is 12 feet double bottom fiber. Would 5 HP 4 stroke engine be enough for me ?

If used in ports it's ok but I would suggest to go for an 8Hp or 9.9Hp so that you will not stress the engine. 4-5hp are more used as an auxiliary rather than the main engine.

Thanks for your help , ANy Brand u suggest ? I was thinking Tohatsu or Selva as i heard decent prices and ok quality.

it's not the price that counts but the after sales service.

I would definetly suggest Suzuki at Zarb Stores Luqa.

As Fishfinder rightly said, go for Suzuki from Zarb Stores, Luqa (important!!!). It is true that it may be a bit more expensive but you will have guaranteed after sales. Good luck with your boat and may it give you loads of fish and good time. By the way, welcome to the forum if you're new.

Thank you ,actually nearly 1.5 years in the forum but was nothing spectacular only offshore fishing . Now I could be more active. I will check zarb stores 4 sure.

Is the boat a displacement hull or a planing hull ?  If it is displacement  5hp  is nice and fine.  If it is a planing hull you won't be doing much with a 5 hp unless you stay in the port . At least 8 to go outside the sheltered port areas and at least 15 to plane it and fly wee.
