depends what your rod specs are, but the the fastest reel you can afford. preferably with sealed drag.

The exage is an excellent reel.. but i would go for the 4000 size and front drag which in my opinion is a must for spinning.. If you want to spend a bit less.. the nexave is an excellent reel & so is the okuma zeon zn40..

I have the Shimano Exage 4000 RA and it's very fast and smooth as well.

rear drag on a spinning set-up is a BIG NO NO.

the drag is was too delicate to handle certain fish.

Get Front Drag.

In addition, i would also look in something with no reverse spool mechanism if you really want to invest in the best. (like jigging reels)

you really, really never know what bites...

What are the disadvantages of a rear drag compared to front drag? Isn't a rear drag more comfortable to deal with than a front one?

On rear drag reels the friction discs are set to the back of the frame and are smaller due to the size of the area where they are housed.

On a reel with front drag, the line leaving the spool is opposed by friction discs placed diretly in front of the spool (in the spool itself).

On a reel with rear drag, the line leaving the spool is opposed by friction discs placed on the end of the shaft at the back of the reel. This leads to mechanical losses of force being applied against the line.

Typically, the same reel will have less max drag in rear drag format, than in front drag format.

keep in mind the rod mentioned!!!

grauvell 10-30g which is quite light....... i have spinned successfully for cudas, serra and cervjol with a daiwa 1550 rear drag reel on light rods of actions 5-15g and 0-30g..... thus i recommended a 2500 as it is more than enough to complement our friends rod in question..... I to have an exage 4000 but its far to bulky for a light spinning rod.

just my 2c worth.
