Info Selva 80hp 2 stroke Outboard

Hello All,

Just wondering whether anybody owns / has used or has any information  regarding  2 stroke 80 hp Selva o/brds. Model Line 1000. Year of Manufacture Approx. 2000 - 2003. Apparently these o/brds were still in production up until 2006.

I've tried searching for some kind of info / forum but results were mediocre.

Feedback needed :-
Reliability ?
Any known / reported manufacturing defects ?
Are parts available locally ( since there doesn't seem to be a local representative / agent ) etc.

Any information / links anybody could provide would help.

Selva were produced in Italy, and it seems are still being produced www.selvamarine.co.uk

I would get in touch with them and see what availability is like, as I'm not sure who gets them locally. Was it Jupiter in Mosta?

Never heard much about them so can't comment, but I don't think they were hugely successful or anything.

When I was thinking of buying a second hand boat, most that were on offer were with 2 strokes and that was putting me off, simply because fuel consumption is so high, and with current fuel prices due to go up I wasn't keen on the idea.

You could always reason that you'll get a few years use out of it if the boat is good and then change engine later on.

THAT'S RIGHT JUPITER OF MOSTA WAS THE AGENT .

AS FAR AS I KNOW ONLY FEW O/BOARDS ARE STILL AV.

THE SELVA 60 HP WAS VERY SIMILAR TO THE YAMAHA EVEN REGARDING PARTS INFACT ONLY  FEW ITEMS DIFFER FROM EACH OTHER.
