Parking Trailers

we must do something immediately ........

today i contact local council (birzebbuga) again and they confirmed it's against the law but does not know the legislation number. I tried to search myself for this legislation but did not succeed.

I contact local police station and they said it is okay to park but when i told them that local council said it is a contravention .... then they told me that tomorrow they will check again!

Can anyone get the legislation?

If not mistaken is LN179 motor vehicle ordinance which states its ok. There is even a court case favour of the trailer owner. Only "sole" trailers are considered as a nusance. B Bugia local council pls note.
When mcala put these signs up a few years ago i spent about 9 months trying to fight this . solo of course. I took the matter with ADT  local council sent a letter to alfred Sant as it was a  PL council ,EU menber of parliment on the basis stated above by other members plus that of discremination etc but i was alone. Now its another thing. Although not directly in the cross fire , i may be some day plus stupid...rules are an insult to my inteligence..

i know many friends of mine who are police members and own a boat!

i just wonder what they will be doing about this ....

and i know how this works in malta ....... if i get a contravention it's like impossible to go away with it! while other people who know friends and have good contacts just have their contraventions erased ......

i'm gonna fight this one till the end! infact today i already spent much more than paying this contravention in phone calls and mobile calls!

i just want to get this right ...... and i urge many more of you to keep on calling police stations and other govmt departments (although when calling depts there you discover the efficiency of customer service in our beloved Malta)

just try to call ADT and you'll see ........ their number is 25608000 ......

keep bombarding them and leave messages after the tone so we'll put on pressure.

i paid a visit tday at transport malta since it is very near to work

funnily they asked me why all this concern since it's been ages in the law.

when i enquired with a local lawyer at work, they did conceade is unfair and most probably, on the basis of unreasonableness, the court case prevails. it is an instance in law where a court rulings prevails over a legal notice. therefore whoever was fined- appeal it!!!!!

so whoever is fined, battle it to the end. on the groud of unreasonableness, any fine is likely to be rejected- even if there is a sign. its useless to provide a slipway for boats and provide no parking space.

guys, remember we have a vote every 5 years. let's show them that we can use it to preserve our hobby. they wanted all this, im sure that nowadays every vote counts.

i bet anything i've got that our beloved goverment would play the part of the savior and make us register the trailers,with an added license of course! but first things first,before that, he will collect a few fines! only then we can park the trailers.

to-day i was speaking with one who got a ticket from bugibba. on the ticket there was written with a pen ' Trailer '  since on the contravention ticket there is no such contravention printed  and there was no reference to any legal notice number.

So it must be a big lie when the authorities said to some forum members that it is an old law and only now they are enforcing it. if it is an old law it would have been printed on the contravention ticket.
