Agreed, Gaffer when possible can you place a picture of the dinghy and have it auctioned to MFF members. However the actual value is of Euro600 and we should not start the sale at lower than 500Euros, our objective is to collect as many funds as possible for the Puttino Foundation....just my idea..and BTW my contribution from the sale of "fishing"  items would be close to 150Euros cos I am soon selling a few more pieces. Also this evening we collected some more cash from individuals, Gaffer will report in due course including all details with regards to the awards cermony/BBQ at B'Bugia.

All magazine advertising space has been sold.
We still have some space for a few articles related to our hobby, or anything in particular to do with the marine  fora.  Any ideas just PM me or msg 79441203.  Would apprciate an article from our spearo friends.  Maybe you'd like to share a unique fishing experience, either from land or sea, or some tricks and tips you've aquired, or else you'd like to talk us through a particular project you've underwent on your boat...the choice is all yours.

The aid fund as it stands today is €14774.  This income is from ads and donations only.  We still have to account for the printing expense, and some minor expenses related to the magazine.  But we also need to add up donations which keep coming in on a daily basis, and the participant's entry fee.

I think its about time we reveal our targets re participating boats.  The 1st year we organised the event (2009), we had 18 boats, last year, thanks to increased sponsorship and more publicity we had 57 boats.  This year we're looking at a participation level of 100 boats or more.  We have the organisation and infrustructure to support this level.  We certainly have the appropriate prizes to attract as much participation as possible.  We are also doing our utmost to gain as much public attention as possible.  Public awareness of the Tournament is gaing ground too.  I met people who I've never spoken to before asnd they already know about the tournament, and have said that they will be participating for sure.
At the end of this, its not about competing.  its about everybody doing his part in contributing to the Puttinu Cares Foundation.  people participating feel (and we are in full agreement with this) that in their own unique way, they are contributing to this cause.  remember, all entry fees will go towards the fund.  nothing is being spared.  We are covering expenses through sponsorships or individual donations towards the activity supporting the event.  let me provide a few examples: We promised that the BBQ would be less than €10.  When we did this, we were already in discussions with Mr. Whippy, so we had a pretty good idea of the price.  Then we negotiated for a much more expanded menu, and agreed on a final price of €10.  That was excluding drinks and wine.  So, instead of pushing up the price even further, we found a benefactor who will provide a free bottle of Italian wine per table of 4.  This we included in the €10 price.  Another example is the adverts being posted on the magazine.  Some suppliers provided the artwork for the adverts which was not complete.  We reasoned that we could not lose out on the income of an advert just because the advert needed some ammendments.  Our good friend malvizzu, who is a graphic designer, proposed that he would do all the necessary adjustments on the adverts for free.  Thanks you kevin (Malvizzu).  Potentially aving 100's of €€€.   So, I have jus thighlighted a few examples how people are helping out with their resources, thus saving us expenses.  Everyone here is doing their part, some by organising, some by contributing, and other by just talking and raising awareness.  Keep it up!

URGENT UPDATE

We need to know the details of all vessels participating in the event by the 25 May, 2011.  We have just been advised by the FCD that a block licence will be issued for the Tournament only for the landing of BFT and Swordfish.  Unless participants are covered and listed in the block licence, YOU WILL NOT be allowed to land BFT and swordfish.

So, spread the word around, and register those boats on the appropriate board in the forum.
http://maltafishingforum.com/talk/index.php/topic,3480.msg42148/topicseen.html#new

Its important that we have this list complete by 25 May, which basically allows us one day to compile the full list and apply for the permit.

Again, if you know of anybody who wants to participate in the tournament, get him registered ASAP, or else that vessel will not be allowed to land BFT and/or swordfish during the tournament.

Gaffer - best if we get the application forms going by next week and have the same (above) post relayed to the Federation. Once the proper registration/application forms are utilized then most of our work covering boat participation is close to complete.

Hear All,
All those intending to participate in the Oris Tournament have to cast their application prior to 25 May.   Applications after this dates will not be accepted. I being the Tournament Director am responsible for the correct running of the tournament in aggreement with Fisheries Control Department when by the end of May The Director wants a complete list of participants in order to issue an individual one day BFT permit within the quota permitted. For this reason I beg each participant to forward, apart from on this site, directly on my email address dr.carabott@marcompmalta.com the following data:
Skipper Name and Surname
ID no , mobile no, postal address and if applicable email address
Boat name, registration no, maximum speed and no of crew (without skipper)
Name of Fishing Club if registered with any

This data will also to registered on the application form which will be then verified during the briefing held few days prior to the Tournament.
If you happen to know persons that do not use a PC, please just take the information and pass it on your self. In order that this event will really have the success it merits everyone has to help. Simple actions many a time move whole nations.

thanks

Seafox: It is with great pleasure to learn that the MFF has donated the sum of €300 towards the Big Game Fishing Tournament/Puttinu Cares Foundation. This has come about as a result of the recent enrollment of additional VIP members and having sponsors renewing their adverts.

On behalf of the organizing committee, and all those involved in this vast national activity
I would like to thank the MFF Administrators for they very generous donation. Well done! We shall notify the other parties supporting our event of this valuable contribution trusting that the Gaffer would add the details to his ever growing list of "benefactors".
