One more thing - using a weight shaped like a bullet I find it goes much faster down than the same weight cylinder form.

i like the spherical form better. As it doesnt sway from one side to another but strainght down.

Guys my problem is not the shape but if il find any weights!

Cannot find big sizes 600/700/800 gr. But I went to Ta Bormla last week and he told me he should be getting spherical (round) sizes some time next week. I would imagine that bullet shape will be better than round sizs due to the drag, but if he gets i will buy a few to try them out!

Just a thought SteveGB With regards to your problem sourceing fishing weights. Do you or can you get your hands on any scrap lead in Malta, ? Iknow it might sound like a daft question, but all the times I have been to Malta Ive never seen any !!!! But if you can, you can get some brilliant lead moulds and make you own in any size you want. I know because I make all my own for beach casting and Boat fishing using moulds that I buy from our fishing shops over here, just thought it might be worth mentioning if your going to use a lot.

@SteveGB - Mr fish has (had) big sizes bullet shaped. Did not see any round shaped there but will ask him next time.
@noz -I do them myself using a mould since it would be quite expensive otherwise but its messy and dangerous when melting high volume of Lead. Its also not easy to find raw lead these days.

Moonwalker... just be aware that lead fumes are the deadliest fumes one can breathe. They are extremely carcinogenic and need all necessary precautions such as proper cross ventilation etc.

more than that is the black dust coming out from lead which deposit in your body and never go out again!

its a nice reel the difference from the daiwa and the miya is that the daiwa does jigging as well. The miys has a bit more powerful motor. Both of them are good for med depth fishing. Mind u, I am comparing the daiwa 1000 with its equivalent the Miya4. As there are other miya larger than that.
