To cut a long story short anybody got the exploded diagram / schematics or even better the workshop manual for a suzuki 9.9 (the one with the grey paintwork). It would be greatly appreciated since there are 2 washers we have no idea where to put in the gearbox.

13 Foot Seastar 400 (bahri kind of)
15hp Suzuki
3.5hp Seagull 40+ Longshaft  (Yes it works , yes it leaks oil)
3.0hp Seagull 40  Longshaft 60 years and it's my best one !
1.5hp Seagull 40- extra short shaft
5 hp Gutbrod Short shaft Air cooled.

Thankyou very much for the links , I found what i wanted immediatley on the first link thanks Skip.

On a sidenote though , I did not manage to put the gearbox back together in a working condition :( . It engages 1st gear immediatly but it's quite difficult to go to neutral and simply does not engage reverse.

It's probably some misplaced washer or some bit I lost. (or my father when he dropped the gear assembly in the middle of the field but anyway).

Anybody knows a mechanic with experience on suzuki outboards which will not try and rip me off ?

I already lost this weekend's fishing and I d hate to loose another one .

Are you sure you have the split selector shaft collar in the right place? You probably had to split the gear selector shaft in the leg (usually under a rubber grommet), before you could drop the gearbox, & you would be suprised how many people re-assemble them, with the split selector rod either too high, or too low. Undo the bush that connects the rods, & see if you can select forward, neutral, reverse with the rods split. If you can do that, put it into neautral, then carefully tighten the bush equidistant on both the upper & lower rods, sounds complicated, but once you start, its common sense. ;)
