HI guys ,

buy any chance does any one  know a mechanic that can service my suzuki 55, the problem is that it's turning  off on idle (after 1 or 2 min it turnes down ) and if lucky giving full trottle it takes time to ref up again  (i.e-takes few seconds to accellerate ), probably calbulators , at the moment i am using the petrol cleaning  treatement (the one to mix up with petrol )

all suggestions are accepted  ;D ;D.

thanks

Would suggest that you check / make sure that engine fuel filter isn't clogged up and all spark plugs are clean, if not replace. Also ensure that new spark plugs are correct type / specs for your engine and gap is as per engine handbook specs.

If no improvement after above steps try calling Tony Grixti ( o/brd mechanic ) 99494292 or Andrew at Zarb stores ( Suzuki agents )

Hope you manage to resolve problem.

The Suzuki agent is very helpful and has a good service mechanic from what I've heard so you might want to get in contact with them.

Yes Zarb Stores are very helpful. Ask for Domnic on 21809304.

It used to happen to me with my 15hp evenrude. It was from the carb due to clogs with the 2 stroke oil. Sometimes you can also adjust the carb screw aswell.

I need to take out my carb myself this time. Does anyone know how i can do it ??

placebo

happened to me this year with one of the 9.9s.

It's exactly the same as my problem. It was cue to clogging in carbuerettor.

Once you clean it it will be okay again
the fishing gods might have something for me tomorrow I'll be fishing

my 200hp saltwater 2000 V6 (not fuel injected) outboard has been giving me problems for the past six weeks (am on the hard for six weeks ) whilst seeing my friends fishing and boating i have been sweating and swearing about a problem that three mechanics cant solve, so i am looking for some help from anyone out there who might have encountered this problem.

my boat is a 24ft racala with top speed of 36/38 Knots all of a sudden the boat cant go more than 6 knots loss of power, the engine is running very smothly on idel and can rev it up to 6000 rpm on free but on gear it cant build up more than 2800rpm. so first to make this short we have checked and changed the folling;-

petrol
petrol filters
sparkplugs
2 coils
2 thermostats
Prop housing
Cleaned Carburators the three of them.
impeller and impeller seal

But the problem persists, any one had this problem? as my three mechanics are at their wits end. and im still on the hard.
thank you in advance for saving my summer.

John, have they run a compression test on all cylinders? If you can rev up on idle but not under load I would be questioning compression which when checked will pinpoint which cylinders have issues.

Have the guys from MM2 given up? I would expect at this stage for them to get in touch with Marinepower in belgium for further assistance being their reps in Malta.

Thought you had sorted the issues by now :(

Have you posted on thehulltruth, given the number of ppl, someone might have pointers.

no they havent given up, now they are blaming it on the gears and in fact yesterday they opened the gear box, as they reasoned that since engin is running ok on idel and reves up ok on free they they figured that it must be something to do with load while in the water, as with the water muffs it ok, when in the sea it donet push the boat, they have now found out a seazed bearing, I dont know what relation it has but they are quite happy with that, now its mondayor tuesday to test once again.

I have been on i-boats.com with the problem and it seems that there are more people with the same problem like mine and everyone is saying its the carb but i know better as have cleaned them and changed all lines leading to them,  i reapeat the engein is working o.k. its the power that is misssing.

Have run a compression on all cyl and all o.k.
