A recreational fishing permit will be introduced for albacore as from this year. Take note of the information below:

- Registration: EUR 20 till 15th May 2022.
- Maximum of 3 fish allowed per day per boat.
- No overall quota.
- No tagging needed.
- No need to inform Fisheries on departure/arrival.

Applications for the 2022 Recreational Bluefin Tuna fishing permit are open until 30th April 2022 and can ONLY be done via the MALTA FISHERIES & AQUACULTURE mobile app which can be downloaded from either the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

Once installed click on Fishing Licence Renewals and Select "Fishing Recreational Authorisation"

You will need the following documents:

• Your Transport Malta Vessel Registration Document

Payment of €20 will need to be done once your application is review and approved and the season runs from the 16th June until the 14th October 2022 or until the quota is exhausted.

I have started my fishing in the Adriatic Sea, which was decades ago, very little was done with artificial bait those days.
Since I live in Belgium, I (re)started fishing exclusively with artificial baits, always C&R, mainly targeting pike and perch,
but definitely not minding occasional zander and especially asp.
I did no fishing with artificial baits from shore, as I would like to try, so any tips are helpful.

Thank you very much for having this forum and letting me participate.

I will visit Malta for one week (7-14 of September) and I was hoping for some fishing action.
I am exclusively C&R fishing and I prefer active fishing, which is typically spinning with various lures.
Lure fishing makes it easier to C&R as hooks are not swallowed,
but it is not easier to catch a fish as they can be quite finicky about the lure choice and presentation.

Can somebody please advise me with lure choices, so I can still fit everything in my luggage

Additionally I would appreciate some tips about types of places and times of day when to go fishing.
I am not asking about hot spots, but should I go to fish from a cape or more in a bay or in ports etc, what tides and currents to look at ...

I am not after capital fish, any fish will do
I just want to be on the water, with at least some chance to catch a fish.
