Can someone please suggest how much line is best to be let out whilst fishing for Alungi??? I usually leave approx 40/50 meters for my two side rods and I use a 250g (rod 1) and a 200g (rod 2) weight respectively. These are placed 10 meters before the swivel connected to the lure using 2m of Floro. I then have a daisy chain in the middle which I leave closer approx 30/35 meters. Would appreciate any reply as I have checked in previous discussions and could not find anything with regards to the distance of the lure from the boat whilst trolling. Thanks a lot.

I usually let out between (30 to 35 qama) 180' to 210' for alungi but if u want to put an extra lure approximately 300' for a swordfish or pastardella.
if u have two different weights dont forget that u have to turn on the heavier weight to avoid tangles.
Whats the idea of having the daisy chain in the middle thats not very healthy in my opinion. it should be closer to ur hooked lure. You said u are using a 2 mtr florocarbon, i would connect it to the end of the daisy chain. so u have  gap of 2 mtr from the daisy to the lure.
if possible the hooked lure should be  bit bigger than the lures of the chain or else if the same size keep the lures of the chain  in one colour and the hooked lure of a different colour.

Shannok thanks for your reply. The daisy chain is a separate line. I leave 3 lines out...2 rods on the side and a daisy chain in the middle as a teaser...at the end of the daisy chain i have a bigger/different coloured squid which is hooked. Sorry might have not explained well myself. So 30 to 35 qama how much is that in meters?

Its a matter of preference. My furthest lure is 35mtr and then all lures are positioned closer to the boat. I like tp have q lure just outside the propwash, especially an aggressive working lure (flat head or jet head).

I, on the other hand, prefer to run a middle line 45-50 fathoms away (81-90m) with a 350-500g weight, 15 fathoms away from the lure

Most fish tend to strike coming in from the sides so the theory is that you want to have your attractors (daisy chains etc) on the two outside rods, especially Steve if you then run a rod down the center closer in. But don't put a daisy chain on that if you're only running 3 rods.

Have an aggresive lure or Rapala style just behind the prop wash or just inside (up to you).....the theory goes that you raise the fish with the daisy chains on the outside who come up and across to investigate and then are drawn in to your centre rod if you're running a total of 3.

The long centre is used to target anything that maybe came up late or is looking for a struggling bait.

My chase baits are no more than 1m behind the last daisy....always bigger/diff colour

SteveGB

Thanks skip for the advice.
I was aware that the daisy chains are used on the outside to attract the fish but due to me not having any spreaders or a rod holder in the middle of the boat the only place where I could tie the daisy chain was in the middle (due to it being on a hand line). So basically, currently I am running two rods on each side and the daisy chain in the middle! I know this is not the best setup possible but I usually fish with two rods only on each side so I thought why not set up a daisy chain in the middle! I?m sure it will do more good than without! I might be wrong also, what do u think?

Afternoon guys, as predicted by windfinder , this morning the sea was really calm and we headed out from gnejna early morning. We had our first strike at 6am.....6 alungi on board by 7 30 am. we kept trolling and by 9am we had 3 other alungi onboard, 2 of which on a double strike - 2nd double strike of the day. Final count 9 alungi by 10am.
