lets arrange on them so maybe if we can hurry, we can have them on when we meet up.

Guys as I explained before the issue is not getting the T-shirts done, Redbus9 had already found various places who will do it. The issue is that the logo needs to be re-done in Paintshop or similar so that it comes out as a higher quality vector image necessary for printing. The only version I have is a low to medium res compressed 600kb JPEG which frankly isnt suitable.

The logo looks fine on the web etc but it does not print well. No one from the forum is well versed or works in graphic design, so it looks like we will need to outsource this as a paid job to a freelancer to get it sorted out.

It's two fold as once this is done aside from the T-shirts we can then get the new membercards printed.

I remember once we spoke Skip and I had suggested my brother doing it but ... he is so damn busy at the moment that we better leave him out of it. In the mean time, I have a very good friend of mine, he is a graphic designer and web designer too. If you want just email me everything needed to be done and I'll ask him for a quote. Then it is just a matter of sharing the bill between us. Or else if you want I can give you his contact details and deal directly with him.
If you ain't living on the edge, your taking too much bloody space

I am not sure how you have progressed on the logo issue; if you still need help let me know I can help you out. I had done the logo for the Malta Skin Diving Club.
If you are require the logo as the one at the top of the page, with the orange sunset background then the logo cannot be all vectors since the photo will have to be a raster image. Of course you will have to have the original photo if you want it exactly the same otherwise you can never get it exactly similar. OR we can do something from scratch.

Let me know even by email since I sometimes do not log onto internet for a few days...and of course no charges involved.

Hi Tony, thanks for your post and offer. I will admit I'm not super versed on Vector vs Raster but I just looked it up and can understand what's going on. I see there are many advantages of a Vector image, resolution independant, can be resized etc, however with it's limitation as you point out in terms of the background etc.

Perhaps what would be best is to create a raster image in a very high resolution, suitable for large print of say posters etc, as then resizing smaller isn't as much of a problem as the pixels are made smaller so the image should still look sharp when printed. Does this makes sense?

The trouble with the original photo is that that logo was created by a forum member using some 3D design program which I guess had image templates etc. Unfortunately he lost the main image he worked on before he converted it to a jpg and can't remember what software he used!

It's true that aside from on the website the logo hasn't really been used anywhere yet in terms of print/advertising etc, so I suppose we are still in time to change it completely.

I know some members had suggestions of seeing a logo with something representing shore fishing, offshore fishing and spearfishing but I can't really visualise myself how that would come out, being a person not good at graphic design. If we were to do something from scratch then I think we should definately base it around a vector image for future flexibility.

Hi Skip

Just sent you and Edward a pm. You are correct; logo is best done in hi res and then its never a problem to reduce res; on the contrary trying to take a low res image like the one from the internet and trying to increase res wont work. When reducing resolution you are removing data (pixels) and once removed you simply cannot put them back in. Any design done will be hi res so there will be no issues and can be used to print whatever you require.

Hi guys.
I appreciate the work you are trying to do. I am sorry that I am not so practical in PC design, because if I was I would have given a hand for sure.
I am thinking twice and I have a friend of mine who works with advertising and design at coka cola, whom i would try to ask for some help, fingers crossed. Thanks to you also Toni. Guys I am a passionate for good art, and especially modern. I am sorry to sound maybe too demanding, but i would like the design to be a bit modern, abstract or shadow like, what i am referring is something like buddhgrass, or like skip's picture... A shirt which you would be proud wearing, not like a shirt with a fisherman ad a 'lampuka' like the ones you find at a souvenir shop 'I have been to Malta'....and are we thinking of a logo at the back, large size or, just a small logo on the chest, cause that will make a lot of difference. And by the way the logo on top of this page was't bad either. We can evelv something onto these grounds, that may also involve us spearos.!!
Ear Pain aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Shanook has sent over an enhanced high res raster image of the main logo. The intention is to keep that for the front of the tshirt, breast pocket size and then have some of the guys like Toni, Nando etc try and come up with some Artwork for the back of the tshirt.

The idea would be to have various different designs available eventually.
