Ok, so at least I'm not the only one to loose jigs! I would really like to see a video of someone jigging, just to get an idea of the action. There are a lot of videos on Youtube on jigging, but most show you only once the fish is caught.

As you said there is not much on the net. The problem is that I am going away Tuesday & quite busy on the boat tomorrow as I have a couple of DVD's that I can let you see. I will PM you once I am back in Malta if you are still interested.

Thanks Tatanka. Seems like you first give 3 - 5 soft jigs, and then a hard one. I think I need a different rod as mine is a little too flexible under a 150g lure.

do not leave jig on the bottom. as soon as it touches sea bed initiate your retrieval.

first four strikes are crucial for dentex.

Ciappinnu Yes as Placebo said the first 4 strikes are crucial & with regards to the rod you should have marks on the rod that tell you what the rod is able to handle with regards to weight. So if you are ever going to buy a new rod just advise the seller what your intentions are & he should be able to give you advise.

bottom currents and boat drifting plays also an important role.

yesterday we had some high currents and didn't even get a strike.
one thing i noticed is that barracudas are in some way interested in jigs.

yesterday i could see them beneath the boat when i came in shallow waters (9mtrs) and am not really sure but i think i had some small strikes from them.

i could see the way thet tried to hit the jig but for some reason they stay a little bit away and do not strike.

maybe i will try a smaller jig since i was using a big one.

can't wait for my next jigging session!
this is becoming very interesting
