I threw a lure for 5 minutes just after splash and fun park and hooked a cude straight away. I am seeing alot of baby shoals of cudas around as well while diving. I heard a guy from Mellieha netted 62 cudas with a net. Shame as I don't know what he will do with them, but too many cudas in our seas are not good either.

This year also seems to be a good year for octopus and sargi. Maybe the bad weather left some fish in the sea to roam around and mate!

I can confirm that Cuda's are excellent for eating!  Fillet the fish, lightly dust it in seasoned flour, and shallow fry it in a pan.  Serve with some squeezed lemon straight from the pan.   You will not be disappointed.  Just DON'T OVERCOOK IT.  Leave the meat moist.

Today I caught another cuda 980grams from bugibba and afterwords I made a big mistake I hooked a very nice garfish[imsella] on a 9cm lure and after some time to bring it in[jumping and running on the surface]I tried to pull it up but I couldn't it was too heavy for the rod,I told a guy to pull it up from the line for me and when he was pulling it up the line broke and it went away with the lure.I am really angry with my self as I had the net with me and I didn't use it. >:(

Hi,how many knots for trolling for cudas and do you use a comba or just the lure?

tks kings
Fishing, fishing ,fishing thats all i think about.

4 to 5 knots is enough. With regards to weights, I think it does not really make a difference. I have caught with and without weights. I am having alot of success with a very bright red octopus skirt which is about 4 inches long.

Been nearly a year since my last vist; well done for the new look to this fantastic forum.

Can anyone please specify which are the best lures at this time of year for barracudas?  I'm planning to try out the Yozuri Red Head and Rapala Magnum (silver mackarel) - both divers and don't need any extra weight.

Any comments please?

If you are fishing from land use sizes between 9cm-11cm.I use different colours and usually I use miss maria lures.

yesterday was the worst cuda day. i changed the trebble hooks of my favourite lure and i think i put smaller ones :s i hooked 5 and lost them all. They were surely big cudas because i could tell from the strikes they gave.
