To be honest i have always used braid followed by a fluorocarbon leader and my lures always have a 1-2 meter fluorocarbon line on my lure which i attach onto a swivel. I have caught on 0.87mm fluorocarbon no problem bec as most of you know its practically invisible underwater. Hope this might help some ppl.

From boat we usuallu use 0.40mm line. Last saturday we went trolling at ras hanzir in the morning and we had 6 strikes only 2 were able to bring them onboard. We were trolling with lures and lacci not that fresh.

We caught them all during sunrise around 6.30am - 7.00am but afterwards we had no other stikes we kept trolling till 10.00am.

Does anyone has an explanation why there were no other strikes?

this time of the year one must change to .50mm They are nice sized sobetter on the safe side. Yesturday we was with a .35mm and we lost 2.

I always have the last part with .40 fluorocarbon and i catch when they want to strike even kubrit. It depends on the fish and its mood although that some times i lost the fish and the lure even with the .40mm......so now im swithcing to thicker line.

can someone tell me how do you manage to get strikes...This is for you Emic......did you go on shore or boat... and if on shore what in blazes do you do...say a prayer maybe before you begin???!!!!!????

I'm literally tired (not annoyed) trying to catch something with the lures, no sorry to get even a bite. In these past 5 months all I managed to catch was one cuda (not even half a kilo :(((( ) and another strike but it got away probably a cuda aswell. Ahh by the way I was using a 0.35mm till 3 weeks ago and just had those 2 bites.

So I question my self...How come that I am not getting any bites and many of you are saying that even the fish that are biting your lures are cutting the lines???? Man this is frastrating

bigboy

If the fish is there you wil leven get bites using 0.60mm lines.

Once we were trolling for kubrit around 3 years ago in the mouth of the harbour and all of a sudden we started getting kahli on 0.50mm line (not floro).

This week a friend of mine was using 0.60mm and managed to catch a kubrita and a plamtu sooo is dont know.

You never know when you will find something that takes your lure but there is a big difference from when you find a fish that just came in and a fish that is territorial.

clayton .... my thinking is that you must use a weight once the sun rises.

Barracudas strike on surface only at sunrise and sunset - that is my thinking which i base upon some years of spinning.

well done mate ... that proves your invention right and you must be very proud of it! i think that if you use that jig with the help of a good sinker you must have good bites even at later hours of the day. We must prove this thing right when we have some better weather!

the fishing gods might have something for me tomorrow I'll be fishing

I wish to buy a deep diver lure. However I don't know what type of fish can be caught on it or how to use it. Does the sea need to be really deep or is it also suitable for harbour fishing? Is it good for cudas or bonitos? Can it be used at night (very dark) or even during the day? thanks

Ken,
If you prefer to catch cudas ,from my experience a short lip minnow is better than a deep diver.
From my point of view the short lipped can be more realistic and more suirable for cuda fishing, but
I only fish cudas sunsets and nights.
