Today I passed on the results to be checked and later posted.

Now that my work is over I wish to thank all members of the organizing committee namely Mr. Joe Baldacchino, Mr & Mrs. Nicholas Palmer Morewood, Mr. Antoine Debono , Mr. Colin Borg Cardona and Capt Nigel Dunkerley for the support and help they gave me through out the event.

However another group of person who many a times worked in the shadow of us Organizers must be given the credit for the ultimate success for the Briefing and running of the Tournament. These persons as judges, inspectors and helpers were the back bone of the organization.

Permit me to mention these voluntiers. If I miss someone please forgive me. All merit an equal BIG FANTASTIC THANK YOU.

Order of mention is not on merit but as they come to my mind.

Mr.Frank Abela , Mr. Crispino Borg, Mr.Renzo Cilia, Mr Emanuel Rotin; Mr Reno Falzon,Mr Tony Schembri, Mr. Jesmond Gatt; Mr Robert Attard, Mr. Quattrocchi, Mr. Marco (Medic), Mr Frans Mercieca, Mr. Gareth, Capt Richard Gabriele and Mr. Mathew Gabriele. I am sure that there are others who gave their help on support boats.
Forgive me but I must include my son Mark who prepared the display for the briefing and mastered my boat (Yellow Flashing Light) during the inspection and start of event.

It was a pleasure to have at one's side such hard working and dedicated persons.

Thanks Again

Joe

A number of you have been in touch with me asking when the final result will be out.  As posted earlier by Dr.Joe, the results are finalised and have been sent to others for cross checking.  They should be up on the forum board by this evening.

Robby is also preparing the financial statements for this event, and will be posted here on the forum for all to see.

On a different note, we are now underway to organise the awards ceremony.  This will be held at Angolina Resturant, same place as the pre tournament briefing.  Most probably it will be held on a week day.  The awards ceremony will kick off with a BBQ, €10 per person, including free wine.

We'll put up a post advertising the awards ceremony details, and hope to see you all there.  Remember, the culmination of all this activity will be the presentation of a cheque to the Puttinu Cares Foundation.

May I congratulate the organizers for all the work and effort. It's not easy to organize ca. 100 boats.
The only suggestion is that we could meet a bit later than 2.15 AM. We later spent more than an hour idling on the boat. An extra hour's sleep would be welcome. At the end of the day everyone was running on empty. The other thing is the start. At a certain point it looked dangerous. I was worried about the smaller open boats even though I was on a larger boat (Seabiscuit). For some, it took the form of a race, which is not the case.
All in all we really enjoyed it and we have to congratulate the organisers for their sterling work.
Where could we watch the results online?

@ Malvizzu - according to Mr. Fish, who was officially appointed to film the whole event, 2 full programmes on "Mr. Fisherman", 2 sessions of approx 45 mins each., would be aired within 3 months time.

@ Shanook - veru ta , we give Baghira the lures for "free", plus some lessons the week before then he hooks a huge Alonga, u ahna baqjna bit toma.. ..heq..I suppose we do have to pass on our experience to the younger guys..Baghira may win the competition next year if he goes for it!..and Tony why is he calling us all "Mr."...what wrong with this guy?

@ Oblada Melanura I know the feeling I was on one of those small open boats. I was expecting such thing so seeing that due to the rough sea I was not going to be able to plane properly and speed up with the others I decided to stay back until the big once planed their boats and headed out of sight. Still was a bit of a choppy ride until all cleared but better than being caught in the middle without any space to properly manoeuvre into that choppy sea. Maybe if the the sea was calm I would have been among those in front since my boat takes much less time to plane and pick up speed than most of the big once. Better luck next time but yes If I may I would suggest that boats start in groups according to their size especially in rough sea conditions. But even if we caught no fish, had to head in by 11.00 because of a seasick crew and  a flat tire on the trailer we still had fun and enjoyed every moment of it. BIG Well done to all organisers and Thank you

No no no no.....  That wasn't my boat. Sorry for all those who thought that it was my boat, my boat is sh..! compare to that boat as you notice it is a professional fishing boat for just an 18 foot boat. That boat belongs to my friend his name is Johan.

Congratulations for all of those who won in this competion. Prosit guys!!!
And for the others (including me) better luck next year. :)

A big prosit to the organisers, sponsors and other entities that made this event happen and congratulations to the winners of this tournament. Although the conditions were tough it is encouraging to see such nice results at the weighing station. I myself only caught one about 6.4kg proceeded to the weighing station knowing i did not stand a chance of winning anything but this was a competition and the one of the highlights being boats returning with fish to the weighing in station. Also i believe it would be nice to publish all the catches, and not just only the top ten, this being for the sake of a confirmed catch report for competition day.
Hey, what part of "Bring your own Beer" didn't you understand ?
