Keep in mind the amount of organization and parking space needed for all the boats to go down all at one time from the same slip.

This is an area where I can comment.  For transparency reasons I have opted to keep out of the actual Tournament organisation, since I'm also taking part.  I deliberately nominated Dr. Carabott to be the tournament director, to encourage transparecy and eliminate any conflict of interest and promote segregation of duties.  So, I am refusing to comment from an organisational point of view on the actual tournament.  However, I can put forward suggestions regarding the tournament logistics (parking, trailers, jetty activity, T-Shirts, sponsors, ect).  Way back in the beginning of this intitiative, we took care of contacting the B'Buga local council to request the use of the jetty for the day, secure an adequate parking space for boat trailers, and some parking for cars.  This request was upheld by the B'Buga local council. I know for a fact that the tournament committee (tournament director, judges, inspectors and saftey boat handlers) are meeting to dicuss the finer details of this part of the organisation.  Yes, I can tell you, its a nightmare.  Everybody needs to cooperate fully with the instructions handed down by the tournament directorate (TD).  There will be a flurry of activity on Sunday 26 June at 3.00am.  Boats need to be launched, inspected, and then make there way to designated positions as decided by the TD.  Remember guys, we expect over 90 boats to take part.  So a certain degree of discipline and cooperation is demanded from all participants.  There is also the saftey aspect that needs to be taken care off.  I know for a fact that the TD will be very strict this year on saftey procedures,  as we will not tolerate a repeat performance of what we had in the past years.  I simply cannot allow all the hard work and effort which has gone in to organising this tournamwnt to be spoiled by a few individual boats who demonstarte a total disregard to the rules and saftey procedures.  We also need to think about the numerous stories tha have made the rounds about non observance of tournament rules.  The TD has taken into account this factor and I can assure you all that Dr;Joe, Nick and all the rest will be running a very very tight show and will enforce the rules to the limit.
So let us all remember why we are participating in this tournament, the cause, and the effect.  my we all have a great day out at sea.

No fear baghira,

At the moment, having documented all participating boats, I am preparing the logistics of the Tournament  taking into consideration the following paths.

Arrival of Trailer borne boats and parking trailers
Arrival of boats by sea at gathering area.
Pre Tournament inspection.
Re gathering after inspection.
Escort of vessels to starting point.
Start of the Tournament.

In order to get this rolling I need five to six support boats. Once Colin confirms his second Princess we will have six. Also consider that so far I did not include the rib boats for in port duties. Although I have an idea how to use also their help.

Now we have 90 Boats. About another three have not yet confirmed.

Maybe another couple of inspectors are needed.  From my end including me we are six and Nick named another six or seven. Since we need man on land and at sea some more will are needed.

If all participants follow the instructions which Tournament Officials impart, all will fit together from start to finish.
My only worry is the weather forecast.

The_Gaffer

@ Gogo - I have another boat to confirm too, just waiting for him to send me the Valetta registration number.  I will PM you the details I have in hand.
My personal target was 100 boats, we have 90 confirmed, and 4 awaiting confirmation......ejja nies, 6 left for 100!!!

hey skip/gaffer/seafox/Gogo how about the members at the jetty who will be helping the judges to give them a top with MFF/oris logo and maybe a puttinu care logo at the back, or whatever u might come up with like Stewards etc
If you want to get me a top which u think is adequate and I will do it the way u want it and then see if u like and then I do u the others. The only charge is the paper to print on as it is special and costs about 2 Euro per A4 paper.

Prosit Shanook, kemm int bomba....we intend to give tops displaying the MFF logo and other sponsors to all officials both onshore and offshore. Your offer as Gaffer stated would surely be taken up by Skip who is now handling the "apparel" issues for the Tournament.

Good news.

This morning I asked  Dr. Andreina Fenech Farrugia and Dr. Gruppetta Anthony for another BFT permit extension to 10th June.

Just received approval.

Now friends pass on the word to all possible participants to hasten their application before the 10th of June.

Thereafter I will not accept applications for BFT permits but only for Tournamnet.

I think I have been pulling the string ( line) enough and it may snap.

To date, 96 vessels have registered to participate in the Oris National Big Game Fishing Tournament.  I asked Dr. Carabott to request a further extension as we anticipate that once the Tournament Magazine is distributed in the marinas, we might have a couple or more entries.

Well done to the two Joe's, great idea and fantastic to see the full support of both Directors with this tournament.

Looks like I will end up owing The Gaffer & Co. a round of drinks if we get to 100 boats as when he first mentioned that number early on this year I was very skeptical!!! :)
